Unlike many two-in-one thermometers, the Infrared Surface and Probe Thermometer is a handheld infrared thermometer with a built-in port that allows the included probe thermometer to be plugged into the unit and used like a grill probe thermometer. The probe can even be left in meats to monitor temperature over time thanks to the 40 long cord. The infrared mode has a distance to target ratio of 5:1, making it simple and safe to check the surface temperature of extremely hot objects.

Other useful features include a bright white digital backlit display with large numbers, MIN/MAX temperatures, and preset target temperatures with audible alerts. The Escali Infrared Surface and Probe Digital Thermometer measures temperatures from -58°F to 662°F (-50°C to 350°C) with the probe, and from -4°F to 572°F (-20°C to 300°C) using infrared. It features a 7-inch (18 cm) probe length and operates on two AAA batteries, which are included.
